In just a few days, it’ll be August. As per usual, the summer has flown by, but with so much happening, it’s no wonder. Luckily, I caught up just in time to make sure that I don’t miss some great goings-on next month.
August 1st brings with it a new release from a brother and sister folk duo from Sydney, Australia. The self titled Angus & Julia Stone is a blend of the moody blues that they are known for. If you can’t wait, have a listen to their track titled “A Heartbreak,” from the upcoming album
August 1-3 will be chock full of tunes as thousands flock to Lollapalooza to catch acts like Chvrches, Skrillex, Lorde, Eminem and Outkast.
On August 6th, The Maids premiers. This play is a psychological thriller based on the true-story of two sisters that kill their employer and daughter. This play is running for 10 days only as part of the Lincoln Center Festival in NYC.
On August 14th we say a very happy 31st birthday to Mila Kunis.
August 15 is the day that any millennial that had to read the book in class has had in the back of their mind. On this day, The Giver premiers, regaling us with the tale of this Utopian community that isn’t all that it seems.
From August 26-September 1 the Out of Bounds Comedy Festival will take over Austin. Over 500 performers will squeeze as much sketch comedy, stand-up and improv into 7 days as possible.
Between August 29-September 1, the Telluride Film Festival will play host to cinephiles as they jump in line to see premiers of next years Oscar potential.
